Reassuring to read that Tess Jaray writes in her book Paining: Mysteries and Confessions (2010) that she too finds it strange to spend one's life doing something that can't be understood. That thing - painting cannot be explained it can only be experienced. As John Hoyland once said to me 'paintings are like people, they are to recognised and not understood.'
